Awesome Grip Addition

I added this Pearce PG-OM1 grip insert to my Gunn G10 grips on my SS Colt Defender 45. It originally came in a classic full rubber Hogue grip, but those get a little sticky from the sweat from your palms w/ extended shooting. After giving up a little control I had with the full Hogue from removing it, I had to find a substitute. I landed on these inexpensive G10s that stay “cleaner,” and I wanted a different color for my SS Defender, so I ended on a grey/white starburst - I would have went all white if I could have, but the Novak night sights were black, so I figured it would be a good compromise. I want my guns to look good; in my mind I’m the classic blued w/ wood grip or stainless steel w/ white grip kind of thinker. Now with the addition of the rubber finger grips on the front strap from Pearce, I seem to get the best of both worlds of a rubber grip and cleaner feeling G10s. Obviously, anytime you add finger grips - as long as the overall grip doesn’t get too big, especially for a guy with smaller palms like me - you increase the control of your firearm. The only drawback is that the Pearce grip does add that minimum thickness, as advertised, but again, the finger grips compensate for that and that thickness is practically negligible. I did have to do a little trimming on several sides since I wanted the Pearce insert not to be seen protruding past my grip edges. I just used scissors very carefully, some guys have used exacto knives, which would be preferable (and if you do don’t cut on your gun, you will scratch the surface). Since these grip inserts are reasonably priced, you can get two if you mess one up trimming too much and then try not to make the same mistake twice. Other than that, really simple, ingenious product. I wish I would have invented it.
